The 3rd Annual Milwaukee Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place on Saturday, May 14th at the Wisconsin State Fair Park with nearly 2,000 participants in attendance.
The inclement weather did not stop the participants from coming out and helping us raise more than $127,000, exceeding the goal, with donations continuing to come in!
The 40 degree weather also did not dampen the spirit at the Walk.
Over 15 local area mascots and entertainers supported the mission of Autism Speaks, including the Klement’s Racing Sausages, Bango – The Energee Dance Team - 4th Street Flyers representing the Milwaukee Bucks, the Diamond Dancers from the Milwaukee Brewers, Heads Up Juggling, and more.
Gooseberries Fresh Market in Burlington provided a gluten-free/casein-free lunch to all participants and volunteers after the Walk. The Wisconsin’s Alpha Xi Delta Walk team was a HUGE part of our success! Alpha Xi Delta contributed over 60 volunteers on Walk day, Ericka Schwane (Carrol College AXD alumni) sang the National Anthem, AND they were honored as the Top Fundraising Team, with over $11,000 raised before Walk day! Thank You to Alpha Xi Delta!
Congratulations to the 25 Grand Club members who proudly wore golden, hand-sewn Grand Club Sashes generously donated by volunteers from Waukesha County Technical College. And lastly but certainly not least, a huge THANK YOU to Walk Chair, Mallory Walsh, and the Walk committee along with every team, walker, sponsor and volunteer who helped make the Milwaukee Walk a huge success!
