The third and final 2011 West Texas Walk Now for Autism Speaks event was held on May 7 at Kirby Park in San Angelo, Texas. All the hard work of WalkCo-Chairs Beau and Julie Rogers and their dedicated committee paid off in a ton of fun for everyone! To date the Walk has raised close to $40,000!
San Angelo was ready for the Walk as they welcomed us with sunny skies and perfect temperatures!
We had more than 500 walkers! We were joined by: the San Angelo Fire Department and the 501st Storm Troopers. Children of all ages enjoyed the park’s playground equipment, the resource fair vendors and face painting. The West Texas Walk committees (Abilene, Permian Basin and San Angelo) have set a goal of reaching the $1 million mark for a cumulative total for the seven years of the Walks – which means the three 2011 Walk events need to raise a total of $340,000! To date, they have raised more than $177,567 and there are wraparound events being planned:
