2011 Tampa Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Tuesday, April 26, 2011 View Comments

The Tampa Bay Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place at the Al Lopez Park in Tampa on April 16th, with nearly 275 teams and more than 5,000 people in attendance. To date we have raised more than $220,000, exceeding the goal, with donations continuing to come in! Our new location, Al Lopez Park, provided a perfect setting for the day.

A great playground for kids, a beautiful Walk route inside the park, and a spacious location for all of the activities were made even better with a sunny, spring Florida morning.

Emcee Seth Rollins, along with the Walk Chair, Tina Sparr, addressed the crowd; activities during the morning, including Bethany Burnette singing the National Anthem, entertainment from Ingrams Karate Club and Zumba dancing kept the walkers entertained. A huge thank you to all our Walk Sponsors; Pepsi,, Baycare Behavioral Health, Pediatric Health Choice, Lineagan, Brain Balance Center, Bay News 9 and WTTA-TV.  Special thanks to Seasons 52 for providing a special incentive….Chef’s Table dinner for 10 for our top fundraising team!

Geoffrey the Giraffe from Toys“R”Us was on hand along with Buffy from the Buffalo Wild Wings, Elmo and other special guests to greet the children.  From great kids activities that included bounce houses and the Tampa Fire Department truck to a great Resource Fair there was something for everyone!  Yogurt Mountain, Rollin Oats Market & Café, along with Seasons 52 provided snacks for everyone.
