Earlier this month we celebrated World Autism Awareness Day, lighting over 1,000 iconic buildings and countless homes around the world blue in support of autism awareness. It’s not too late to join Autism Speaks to shine a light on autism. Autism awareness doesn’t stop after April 2nd - keep lighting your windows and homes blue and help us keep awareness of this disorder at the forefront of everyone’s mind.
“Our message of autism awareness will certainly reach millions of people around the world as we light the skies like a beacon of hope for all those affected by this public health crisis,” says Suzanne Wright, co-founder of Autism Speaks. Don’t have a blue lantern yet? Home Depot has joined our cause and is selling specially marked blue light bulbs and LED lanterns. A portion of each sale will go to Autism Speaks to fund research, advocacy, family services, and awareness for families struggling with this disorder.
The Autism Speaks blog features opinions from people throughout the autism community. Each blog represents the point of view of the author and does not necessarily reflect Autism Speaks' beliefs or point of view.
