By all accounts, the 6th annual Baltimore Walk Now for Autism Speaks scored a touchdown and homerun on October 30th.
This year’s new venue, M & T Bank Stadium, home of the beloved Ravens, contributed to the event’s great success. The Walk committee played host to the best tailgate party in town with 4,800 participants, more than double last year. Walkers arrived in costume to chilly but blue skies and plenty of sunshine on Saturday morning. Grammy award winning band, Milkshake, kept the crowd moving during the early morning warm-up.
28 resource fair booths (quadruple the size of last year) were decked out for Halloween and prepared to hand out candy to our trick or treaters.
Elvis, Blue Man, and all sorts of characters wandered among the crowd.
Children decorated 1,000 pumpkins (donated by Pathfinders) in our Kid’s Area, sponsored by DHL, a new and enthusiastic sponsor to the Baltimore Walk.
The 2010 Baltimore Walk saw increases in sponsorship, new teams, and number of walkers, all leading to $231,000 raised by Walk day, a 20% increase from last year! For more pictures and information about the Walk, please visit our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/AutismSpeaks.Baltimore.
