Light morning mist greeted the 1,000 participants who attended the 2nd annual Santa Barbara Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Saturday, October 16 at East Beach in Santa Barbara, CA.
While the weather was damp, spirits were not as walkers cheerfully took the 2.4 mile stroll along the beach to raise over $155,000 for autism research, advocacy and family services.
They also visited a number of resource fair booths to get information from local service providers.
Geoffrey the Giraffe, mascot of Toys”R”Us, national sponsor of Walk Now for Autism Speaks, kept busy posing for pictures and greeting the crowd.
Master of Ceremonies Andrew Firestone welcomed local dignitaries that included Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider, District Supervisors Salud Carbajal and Doreen Farr, District Attorney Joyce Dudley, and Councilman Das Williams.
Congratulations to Walk Chair Rebecca Ingram and special thanks our Corporate Visionary Sponsor for this year's event, Hutton Foundation, who supported us with a $20,000 donation.
