“Houston, we have a…SUCCESS!”

The Grand Club members inducted on Walk day.

On Saturday, October 16th at Reliant Park, the 7th annual Houston Walk Now for Autism Speaks, chaired by Ryan Burnett, blasted past the Walk’s goal of $350,000 and is currently passing $380,000.  Almost 8,000 walkers joined in the celebration that included a performance of the Autism Speaks national walk anthem, “Everybody Wants to Be Heard” by our own hometown hero, Kyle Cousins.  Geoffrey, from our National Sponsor, Toys'R'Us, the Star Wars Strom Troopers, and the Landry’s mascots from Rainforest Café and The Aquarium.

The 2010 Walk Committee, of almost 50 members strong, was critical to the success of this event.  From calling past team captains to encourage them to Walk again to securing in-kind donations, they were a force to be reckoned with!

Our sponsors stepped up as leaders in our community to support families affected by autism.  Thank you to Perry Homes, Carino’s, McLane, Houston 2 Way Radio, The Shape of Behavior, The Autism Place, and Austin CEO Foundation for sponsoring the 2010 Houston Walk Now for Autism Speaks!
