The 5th annual New Jersey Shore Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the “Great Lawn” in Long Branch, New Jersey. With 4000 participants, the Walk has raised over $240,000 to date. Prior to the Walk, the first annual 5K Run Now for Autism Speaks was held bright and early for those who wanted to run instead of walk along this picturesque boardwalk. With 150 runners, the event raised over $8000.
This year’s NJ Shore Walk took place on a beautiful sunny day. The entertainment for kids included Scott the Music Man, Home Depot Workshop, and singer, Stephanie Marie Hanvey and more. MC for the day was Matt Ryan, from the NJ Shore’s top radio station, 94.3 The Point and live music was provided by Living Proof. There were16 autism service providers including the Newly Diagnosed Tent which is shared at all NJ Regional Walks by Autism Speaks and Children’s Specialized Hospital.
The Grand Club, which was sponsored by Pier Village, had a tropical theme complete with umbrella drinks, grass skirts and basket auction prizes including a vacation certificate from Endless Vacation Rentals. Thanks to our local sponsors Barclays Capital, Rothstein Kass & Company, Xerox, PNC Bank and KMB Design Group. The New Jersey Shore Committee is a vibrant group that puts their heart and soul into this event, and it shows.
