Annual Autism Speaks Celebrity Golf Challenge at Winged Foot

It was a memorably beautiful day at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, NY, where Autism Speaks Co-founders Suzanne and Bob Wright and event co-chairs Susan and Kevin Murray hosted the Fourteenth Annual Autism Speaks Celebrity Golf Challenge.

This year's event was a tremendous success, raising over $915,000. Celebrity guests included NY Giants linebacker Michael Boley, former NBA NJ Nets player, Cliff Robinson, former NY Giants players Howard Cross and Billy Ard, Portlandia and Sex and the City actor Kyle MacLachlan, News anchor Chris Wragge and Gossip Girl actor Matthew Settle.

A delicious breakfast was served in the sunny terrace facing the golf course as the guests arrived and geared up for the tournament. The guests also had their first opportunity at checking out auction items for the live and silent actions taking place during the dinner portion of the day. By noon, the players proceeded to their respective spots for the shot gun start. The Golf Challenge featured foursomes paired with local celebrities and athletes for a memorable round of golf. The tournament ran all afternoon with different contests, such as Hole In One Witness, Money Hole and a Putting Contest. It was an exciting afternoon as guests Joe Lunny and Greg Schwab both sunk an improbable hole-in-one. Joe won $25,000 and Greg walked away with a Audi Cabriolet.

After the day of golf, guests enjoyed a beautiful dinner reception and auction featuring jewelry from Laura Pearce Ltd, and amazing travel packages to Ireland, Bermuda, and St. Barth's among many other items.

The day was a complete success, replete with great weather, golf, entertainment and delicious food. The Celebrity Golf Challenge at Winged Foot is the longest running golf event for Autism Speaks, attracting approximately 300 guests every year. Other celebrity participants included The Devil Wears Prada actress Stephanie Szostak, Fox 5 News meteorologist Nick Gregory, "Dancing with the Stars" dancer and choreographer Tony Devolani, and Emmy-Award winning sportscaster Len Berman. A special thanks goes out to the event sponsors:, Cantor Fitzgerald, BNY Mellon, MKP Capital Management, Vranos Foundation, G2-Forbes, Ramsey Frank, Suzanne & Bob Wright, Amherst Securities Group LP, and Ellington Management Group, LLC among many others. We would also like to recognize the many companies that donated items for the live and silent auctions.

Thank you to all of our supporters for joining Autism Speaks in this year's Celebrity Golf Challenge and for helping us raise awareness and funds for autism research. We could not have done it without you!
