Autism Awareness Month – A Salute to Military Families

In this unique video, created by Option-G and Autism Speaks, a military mom speaks out. In a clever mix of animation and live video, Karen Driscoll, a Marine Corps wife, tells her story about having a child with autism in a military family. She talks about the real struggles that military families face – relocating, lack of services, and starting all over again after every move.

Caring for a child with autism can present many challenges, but being in the military further complicates getting appropriate services and treatments covered. She highlights the “Caring for Military Kids with Autism Act” that is currently before Congress and explains how enactment of this legislation will help families around the world who are serving their country.
