My Employer is Self-Insured. How Do I Get Autism Benefits?

The Government Relations team held its first webchat in February on autism insurance and received an overwhelming response from families across the United States. Many of you expressed your concerns over working for employers who self-insure and therefore are exempt from autism insurance reform laws enacted at the state level.

Led by Lorri Unumb, our vice president for state government affairs, the Government Relations staff will tackle your questions involving self-insured employers, autism benefits and the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). And you can learn how a growing number of self-insured employers have voluntarily opted to provide autism benefits. Join us online Thursday, April 26, at 8 pm EST.

The Autism Speaks blog features opinions from people throughout the autism community. Each blog represents the point of view of the author and does not necessarily reflect Autism Speaks' beliefs or point of view.
