When I buy my individual or small group policy, including through New Hampshire's health insurance marketplace, will applied behavior analysis (ABA) be covered?
Yes. Insurers that offer new coverage to individuals and small businesses are expected to cover ABA. New Hampshire imposes various dollar caps on the amount of ABA that must be provided each year by state-regulated health plans. The ACA, however, prohibits annual dollar limits on essential health benefits, and under federal Mental Health Parity law, insurers in New Hampshire cannot convert the state's dollar caps into caps on visits, such as the number of sessions of applied behavior analysis each year.
