When I buy my individual or small group policy, including through Missouri's health insurance marketplace, will applied behavior analysis (ABA) be covered?
Yes. Insurers that offer new coverage to individuals and small businesses are expected to cover ABA. Missouri imposes a $40,000 cap on the amount of ABA that must be provided each year by state-regulated health plans. The ACA, however, prohibits annual dollar limits on essential health benefits, and Missouri under state law further prohibits insurers from converting dollar caps into visit limits, such as the number of sessions of applied behavior analysis each year.
