SAN JOSE (April 15, 2013) -- Lorri Unumb, Esq., Autism, Speaks vice president for state government affairs, will be the keynote speaker at the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies' West Coast Conference here on April 22.
Unumb's presentation, “Autism Insurance 101 for Parents and Providers” will help familiarize parents and providers with the different types of public and private health insurance plans. She will discuss pitfalls that providers and consumers should watch out for when attempting to utilize benefits.
Unumb will also discuss strategies for approaching employers who offer self-funded health insurance plans to volunarily provide autism benenfits. Self-funded health plans are regulated under federal law and do not require autism coverage.
Her remarks will also address the intersection of various funding streams for autism interventions and examine who should pay for what and when. The conference will be held at the School of Arts and Culture at Mexican Heritage Plaza, 1700 Alum Rock Avenue in San Jose.
