ALBANY--Autism Speaks praised Governor Andrew Cuomo for proposing a crack down on abuses against people with disabilities, including autism, through the creation of a Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
The governments most basic responsibility is to take care of those who cant take care of themselves," said Judith Ursitti, director of state government affairs, who joined with Governor Cuomo at the announcement. "As an advocacy organization, we have a role to ensure those with autism are heard and through this legislation, Governor Cuomo is showing he is listening.
"We commend the Governor for taking action to address abuses of the most vulnerable, and we look forward to working with Governor Cuomo and the Legislature in producing the best bill possible, she said. To learn more about the proposal, go here.
