Autism Speaks CEO, Angela Geiger meets with Congressional leaders

November 13, 2017

Last week, Autism Speaks President and CEO Angela Geiger met with Congressional leaders including Senator Roy Blunt (MO), House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (LA-1) and Representative Tom Cole (OK-4) to highlight the importance of autism research.

Ms. Geiger thanked Senator Blunt and Rep. Cole for their leadership and support for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and urged them to help expand federal autism initiatives through their leadership of the appropriations committees. This support aligns with the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee's recent recommendation to double the investment in autism research.

While in D.C., Autism Speaks also met with Rep. DeLauro (CT-3) and House leadership to continue conversations about the need to invest in autism. We are eager to continue working with Congress to promote solutions across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

Advocates across the country are also meeting with their Members of Congress, and we are looking for volunteers who want to join our efforts!
