Advocacy Ambassador Program celebrates one-year anniversary!
August 1, 2018
On August 1, 2017, we officially launched our Autism Speaks Volunteer Advocacy Ambassador Program.
The Advocacy Ambassador Program is a grassroots volunteer program. It brings together self-advocates, family members of individuals with autism, lawyers, behavioral analysts and more to advocate for autism-specific policies.
This program has enhanced our federal advocacy efforts by strengthening the relationships between Autism Speaks, autism advocates and Members of Congress.
In one year, 189 Advocacy Ambassadors came together to
- Represent Autism Speaks in over 39 states
- Strengthen relationships with over 78 U.S. Senators and 134 U.S. Representatives
- Participate in more than 200 legislative meetings, town halls, and events supporting autism awareness
