Light It Up Blue

In this episode of Kerry’s Korner I spotlighted a Light It Up Blue celebration that was held in Hernando Mississippi. Hernando High School’s Interact Club, along with there teacher and co-sponsor Holly Neel, helped come up with the idea for a LIUB event for their town. In the video, we show a slideshow of different photos taken from the day of the event.

We are debuting a new video this week that was created by Option G and Autism Speaks. It tells Mattias’ story of being a brother to sibling with autism. He talks about what he loves about his brother and also why autism can be hard on his brother Christian.

The video integrates real footage of Mattias along with animation and is a unique way of telling a story. Let us know what you think!!

March Madness took on a whole new meaning for Autism Speaks! We were gearing up to Light It Up Blue for World Autism Awareness Day with exciting intiatives across all of our departments. March also closed out with the release of the CDC's new prevalence numbers that came with a lot of Autism Speaks activity - everything from television appearances, blog posts, newspaper editorials, testimonies, and live chats!

In this episode, Kerry’s Korner took a trip down to Memphis, Tennessee to visit Elvis Presley’s “Graceland” Mansion. We highlight in this video Graceland’s first year of lighting it up blue for World Autism Awareness Month! FedEx is also highlighted.Join Autism Speaks in celebrating World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 and Light It Up Blue to help shine a light on autism. Whether it's your front porch or your local city hall, an office party or a banquet, the whole world is going blue to increase awareness about autism.

In this episode I feature The Empire State Building who lit their building up blue for World Autism Awareness Day. We had the opportunity to attend a kick-off event within the building where American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger spoke about the significance of autism awareness. All of this is highlighted within the video. Light It Up Blue, in its third year, is a unique global initiative to help raise awareness about the growing public health concern that is autism.
