Inaugural Tennessee Walk Now for Autism Doubles Fundraising and Participation Goals
More than 2,000 people walked on Saturday, September 13 at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn. for the inaugural Tennessee Walk Now for Autism. The walkers, from more than 250 teams, raised over $190,000, exceeding the events first year goals.
Evan Farmer from TLC's "While You Were Out” participated in the opening ceremonies and signed autographs for walkers. Katie Chance, a child with autism, performed the national anthem and walkers enjoyed a performance by Wild Honey from CMT's “Can You Duet.” Emceeing responsibilities were shared by Woody & Jim from 107.5's “The River,” who introduced the opening ceremonies, Dolewite & Scooby from 101.1's “The Beat,” who handled the closing ceremonies, and Heather Jensen from Fox 17. Additional thanks to Mommytime Radio from WLAC and NASCAR driver Brad Baker who attended the Walk.

The resource fair showcased 19 organizations and companies, including service providers, educational resources and the Autism Treatment Center of Knoxville. A number of generous sponsors contributed to the success of the Tennessee Walk Now for Autism.
