Southwest Florida Walk Raises Over $215,000
The 2007 Southwest Florida Walk Now for Autism took place on Saturday, November 10 as 2,300 people turned out at Estero Community Park in Ft. Myers to raise over $215,000, surpassing the goal of $175,000. Beasley Broadcasting supported the event in a big way before, during and after the walk. B103.9, Sportsradio 770 and 106.3. Easter Seals provided a sensory area. At the Resource Fair, nineteen vendors provided important information to families and a great variety of gluten-free casein-free samples. Young participants enjoyed a Home Depot craft area. Geoffrey from Toys "R” Us and Florida Everblades mascot Swampee greeted participants, while former New York Jets linebacker and Florida State Hall of Famer Marvin Jones signed autographs. Co-chairs Elly Hagen-Memoli, Tammie Baker and Sharon Boyd put on a fantastic day of food, entertainment and fun for families in Southwest Florida.
