3,500 Participants Raise $263,000 at Southern New Jersey Walk Now for Autism
On Saturday, June 14, 3,500 people gathered at Bishop's Gate Corporate Center in Mount Laurel, N.J. for the 7th annual Southern New Jersey Walk Now for Autism. The walkers, on more than 200 teams, raised $263,000. At the Walk's halfway point, walkers who endured a hot and humid day were happily soaked by the Mount Laurel Fire Department's fire engine.
The Walk festivities began when Autism Speaks' staffer Megan Mirzoeff performed the national anthem. Creatabilities, a dance troop from Today's Dance Center comprised of children with autism, gave a wonderful performance. Prior to the Walk, Budo Full Range Martial Arts led the participants in warm-up exercises. Media Sponsor SoJO 104.9's Christopher Knight served as the event's emcee, providing music and giveaways.
