Seattle Walk Doubles 2006 Attendance
The sun shone on the weekend for the first time in six weeks as the 4th Annual Seattle Walk Now for Autism took place on Saturday, October 13. Over 1,700 walkers (twice as many as last year) raised nearly $250,000. Melanie Roach, a top-ranked female weight-lifter, 2007 Pan Am Games Bronze medalist, and the mother of a child with autism, served as Seattle's honorary walk chair,
Kids enjoy the activities at the Seattle Walk Now for Autism
sharing heartfelt stories with the attendees. Congressman Dave Reichert (R- Wash.) spoke, encouraging the walkers and families. The ARC of Snohomish County set up sensory stations, which gave children a chance to squish and play with clay, water, sand, and other items, stimulating the senses and adding a sense of fun to the learning.
