Carolinas Walk Raises over $350,000
More than 4,500 walkers turned out at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. for the Fifth Annual Carolinas Walk Now for Autism, raising over $350,000. Joining the walkers at this year's event were special guests Charlie and Debbie of “The Charlie & Debbie Show,” Chris Allen from Tanner in the Morning, members of the TopCats (the Carolina Panthers Cheerleaders), the Team Aruba Drag Racing team, and a number of mascots, including Geoffrey the Giraffe from National Walk Sponsor Toys 'R' Us, Andy Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse restaurants, Chubby Checker from the Charlotte Checkers hockey team, Homer the Dragon from AAA baseball team the Charlotte Knights, and Seemore Goodstuff from Charlotte PBS affiliate WTVI. A community resource fair with twenty organizations and kids activities rounded out the day's festivities.
