4th Annual Blair County Walk Now for Autism Participation Up 54%
On Saturday, June 14, 1,000 people walked at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, Penn. for the 4th annual Blair County Walk Now for Autism, representing a 54% growth in participation over last year's event. The walkers, on 76 teams, raised over $75,000 – a 22% increase over 2007. Special thanks to fourth-time Walk Chair Amanda Boland and first-time Walk Chair Charla Brumbaugh for making the Blair County Walk such a success.
Tim Cassidy, an employee of Corporate Visionary Sponsor New Pig, rallied the crowd prior to the Walkand joined the company's Walk team. A resource fair showcased five organizations and companies, including the NHS Autism School, 5 Pillars 4 Freedom, Skills of Central PA, Camco Physical And Occupational Therapy and Children's Behavioral Health, Inc. The NHS Autism School assembled and staffed a Kids Sensory Corner, which all of the walkers enjoyed.
