Baltimore Walk Now for Autism Raises over $235,000

"Mikey's Militia" have raised $1,135 and continue to strive to reach their fundraising goal of $3,000!

On Saturday, Oct. 4, 1,800 people participated in the 4th annual Baltimore Walk Now for Autism at Towson University in Towson, Md. The walkers, on more than 180 teams, raised over $235,000. Special thanks to Walk Chair Dave Williams for making the Baltimore Walk such a success.

WMAR-TV Channel 2's Marybeth Marsden hosted the day's festivities. Kathy Klausmeier, State Senator from the 8th Legislative District, attended and spoke about the importance of supporting autism friendly legislation.

The Walk hosted a resource fair which showcased 10 companies and organizations. The husband and wife research team of Drs. Paul and Kiely Law, physicians by training and parents of a 13-year-old son with autism, provided parents with information about the Interactive Autism Network (IAN).

Special thanks to national Walk sponsor Toys”R”Us, which was on-site with Geoffrey the Giraffe. Following the Walk, Geoffrey led many families over to the stadium where he flipped the coin to begin the Towson vs. Northeastern football game.
