Las Vegas Hosts an Inaugural Ride as part of Autism Speaks Weekend
On Sunday, Oct. 12 more than 350 people came out to support the inaugural ING DIRECT Ride Now Las Vegas and our first Autism Speaks weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. Participants came together at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Pool to raise more than $47,000 making this first year motorcycle event a great success.

Despite the chilly morning air, more than 200 motorcycles cruised into UNLV's Thomas and Mack center for an amazing 70 mile ride down the Las Vegas strip,

out toward Lake Mead and then ending at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Pool. Motorcyclists came from Las Vegas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and even Canada to enjoy breakfast, coffee, and music before hitting the road to raise autism awareness.

As riders pulled into the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, they headed for the pool where local band favorite, Yellow Brick Road, played and a hearty lunch provided by the Hard Rock awaited them. Motocross Legend Carey Hart and custom motorcycle designer Jesse Rooke were on hand all day to sign autographs and take photos with partygoers. The day ended with great raffle prizes ranging from motorcycle helmets and jackets to a wakeboard package and tickets to local Vegas shows. It was a wonderful day for riding and a great inaugural event in Las Vegas to spread autism awareness and raise much needed funds.

Special thanks goes out to our amazing Las Vegas committee including Co-Chairs Steven and Molly Michelman, Stephanie Anwar, Erica and Mike Carpino, Todd Walton, Paul Davis, Darya Ricotta, Dana and Michelle Bartholomew who helped make this event such a great success. The ING DIRECT Ride Now Las Vegas wrapped up a successful season with rides in eight cities across the country raising more than $500,000 in 2008!
