Riders Hit the Pacific Coast Highway to Raise Funds

On Sunday, October 5, ING DIRECT Ride Now Southern California rolled through beautiful Pacific Coast Highway in support of Autism Speaks. This 4th annual Ride gathered 350 participants from various areas of Southern California even stretching as far north as San Francisco, and raised nearly $35,000.

In its first year offering two different starting points, bikers and passengers were given a choice of starting the ride either at Bartels

Harley-Davidson in Marina Del Rey representing the northern starting point or Orange County Harley-Davidson in Irvine representing the southern. This unique design allowed riders to enjoy a spectacular coastal ride without traveling long distances to participate. Lead by several Autism Speaks Riders, these two groups roared through their routes to the after-party at the Blue Café in Downtown Long Beach where food, live blues music, and a festive atmosphere awaited them.

Great weather, diligent volunteers, and passionate riders contributed to making this 4th annual Ride a huge success. With next year in mind, participants, volunteers, and sponsors are already promising to make the 2009 ING DIRECT Ride Now Southern California bigger than ever.
