11th New York Celebrity Golf Challenge Raises $800,000

Autism Speaks' New York Celebrity Golf Challenge celebrated its 11th anniversary with an exciting day of golf at the esteemed Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. on Monday, June 15, 2009. The event raised approximately $800,000 for Autism Speaks with celebrities from the worlds of sports, entertainment and media participating. The day included an afternoon shotgun start at Winged Foot's challenging East and West courses. This year's celebrity players and attendees included New York Giants' linebackers Michael Boley, Zak Deossie and Jonathan Goff and defensive end

Dave Tollefson, Rescue Me star James McCaffrey, “Late Show with David Letterman” announcer Alan Kalter, WNBC sports anchor Bruce Beck, Fox 5 News' sports anchor Duke Castiglione and NBA Hall of Famer Gail Goodrich. Also on hand were actor Jack Mulcahy, former WNBC sports news anchor Len Berman, Jets Nation studio analyst and former NFL player Ray Lucas, former New York Giants players Howard Cross, Phillippi Sparks and William Ard and former New York Islander Pat Flatley.

The tournament included several course contests as well as a celebrity putting contest with Michael Boley and Zak DeOssie, and a million dollar shootout.

The evening dinner reception included a silent and a live auction that featured the opportunity to help fund autism research and family services initiatives. The event was chaired by Kevin and Susan Murray, who founded the event in 1999 and who have helped raise nearly nine million dollars since its inception.
