2007 Twin Peaks Utilities & Infrastructure First Annual Charity Golf Tournament Raises $20,000
A little good-natured competitiveness amongst siblings can be a good thing, as the Colorado Chapter of Autism Speaks & Cure Autism Now recently learned.

The recently-formed chapter is the proud recipient of its first major benefit leading up to the Colorado Walk Now for Autism on October 13th; The 2007 Twin Peaks Utilities & Infrastructure First Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

Created this year by JJ "Jay" Brandstatter, whose nephew was recently diagnosed with autism, Jay and his sister have begun an informal challenge to see which of them can raise the most money to help battle the disorder. Jay's sister, Ingrid D'Agostino, is the captain of Team Nico, a top fundraising team in CAN & Autism Speaks' Chicago Walk Now for Autism.

"Most of my family is in Chicago with my nephew, and can help on a daily basis," noted Jay. "I needed to help, but being so far away, decided a fundraiser was what I could do best. So that's the inspiration for the golf tournament, and I mean it when I say First Annual. I want it to get bigger and bigger every year. I want to double it every year."

If the success of his first efforts is any indication, Autism Speaks is extremely fortunate to have his – and co-worker Frankie Grundler's – hard work and passion on its side. In a mere 12 weeks from conception to execution, Jay and Frankie fashioned a day-long golf tournament on June 29 th for more than 100 participants. Held at the Broadlands Golf Course just outside of Denver, Jay and Frankie organized sponsorships, a raffle and a steak dinner to round out the event. The Colorado Chapter's volunteer leadership committee was on-hand to work the registration, raffle and deliver brief remarks to round out the awareness event.

More than $20,000 was raised for Autism Speaks at the 2007 Twin Peaks Utilities & Infrastructure First Annual Charity Golf Tournament. More than two dozen corporate sponsors, including J2 Development, Pronet Capital and Central Paving, were integral to the event's outstanding success.
