"Desperate Housewives" Stars Raise Money and Awareness for Autism
On Saturday, August 11th, stars of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" attended "James Denton Bobblehead Night" at Goodwin Field, in Fullerton, Calif, where fans received Bobblehead dolls with the actor's likeness. The event, organized by the James Denton fan club, took place at an Orange County Flyers (a minor league baseball team in Southern California) game, and raised over $9,000 for Autism Speaks. More than $8,000 was raised in ticket sales, and Downey Savings presented a $1,000 check to Autism Speaks' Event Manager Anna Heimbuch.

James Denton, a long-time supporter of Cure Autism Now, and part-owner of the Orange County Flyers, wanted to use the opportunity to raise funds for Autism Speaks. More than 75 people purchased tickets to sit in the luxury box at Goodwin Field. Fans enjoyed the game while spending time with Denton, and spreading awareness for Autism Speaks. Denton's “Desperate Housewives” co-star Teri Hatcher was on hand to throw out the first pitch, and Marc Cherry, the creator of "Desperate Housewives," joined supporters in the luxury box.
The event was organized by Sandi Lois Keefe (James' Fan Club and Website Manager), who made this a special evening for all involved. Orange County Autism Speaks volunteers Diane Vitto, Lauren Christ, and Carolyn Christ attended the event and promoted the Orange County Walk Now for Autism. For more, visit jamesdenton.com.
