WASHINGTON, DC (July 26, 2012) -- A federal judge in Washington has handed military families a major victory in their pursuit of insurance coverage for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for their dependents by ruling in a class action lawsuit that the Department of Defense's (DoD)  policy of limiting benefits to active duty members was "arbitrary and capricious."

WASHINGTON, DC (June 21, 2012) -- A Senate Armed Services subcommittee sharply questioned representatives from the Department of Defense (DoD) today on why they offer limited autism insurance benefits to military families, particularly in light of the federal government's decision to begin coverage for the nation's 8 million civilian employees, retirees and dependents.

WASHINGTON (June 13, 2012)  -- Patricia Kime of MilitaryTimes.com reports on the House vote approving Rep. John Larson's amendment to upgrade TRICARE insurance benefits for autism therapies. Karen Driscoll, Autism Speaks' associate director for federal government affairs and military relations, called the Larson amendment "a huge step forward for helping those who are vulnerable."

Driscoll, a Marine Corps wife and mother of a son with autism, recently joined Autism Speaks as Associate Director for Federal Government Affairs and Military Relations.
