On Monday evening, Autism Speaks held its sixth Small Business Town Hall meeting, hosted by Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. The Chicagoland autism community showed its recognition of the dire need for appropriate employment opportunities for adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).

In recognition of the U.S. Department of Labor’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Autism Speaks will focus our topic of the week on the employment of adults with autism.  We ask the Autism Speaks Community to share their experiences with employment in the community.
 

 

President Obama has issue a proclamation in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
 
The President says, “During National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we recognize the skills that people with disabilities bring to our workforce, and we rededicate ourselves to improving employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors for those living with disabilities.”
