The 2005 Society of Neuroscience meeting was held on November 12-16th at the Washington DC Convention Center, attended by over 34,000 scientists, exhibitors, and members of the press.

NAAR and NAAR-Funded Researchers Featured in Wall Street Journal & New York Times

Last month, NAAR and several NAAR-funded researchers were recognized in two national newspapers, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

NAAR was recognized in a February 9 editorial in the Journal, titled, “Autism and Vaccines,” which appeared in the Review and Outlook section. The Journal commended NAAR for its dedication to research, including studies it has funded that focus on the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine and autism.

Launched in 1997, NAARRATIVE was the official publication of the National Alliance for Autism Research. The quarterly journal featured news on NAAR funded research programs, columns on autism research written by prominent researchers and directors from the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and others as well as information on Walk F.A.R. for NAAR and NAAR development news.

Stephanie Davis Wins Award
April 23, 2007


Eleven-year old Stephanie Davis of Trumbull, Connecticut was honored in Washington, D.C. this spring for her volunteer work for NAAR. The sixth grader, who has an 18-year-old cousin with autism, was one of two Prudential Spirit of the Community Award winners from her home state.

NAAR Volunteers Meet With Legislators

More than 60 volunteers and staff from the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) kicked off National Autism Awareness Month by meeting with their legislators on Capitol Hill recently, to ask for their support in increasing federal support for autism research in the Fiscal Year 2004.

Rising Star on the Cover of National Publication

Megan Cooke laughs when she is described as a “rising star,” even if the Olympic hopeful is on the cover of her sport's national magazine.

Cooke, a part-time staff member at NAAR's Princeton office, is a member of the U.S. National Rowing Team and trains at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, NJ. She is featured on the cover of the February edition of Rowing News, which describes the 24-year-old Bay area native as “rising star” in the rowing world.
