NAAR Supports North Shore Autism Conference

NAAR is co-sponsoring the upcoming autism conference, "Defining the Boundaries of the Autism Spectrum," which is scheduled for December 3 in Woodbury, NY. The conference is presented by the North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health System and will take place at the Crest Hollow Country Club, 8325 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury, NY. NLM Family Foundation Helps Kick Off $7.5 Million Matching Gift Campaign for Autism Reseach

$1 Million Challenge Grant Supports National Alliance For Autism Research

Princeton, NJ (Feb. 23, 2000) – The Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation of Chestnut Hill, MA, is helping the National Alliance for Autism Research launch a $7.5 million matching gift campaign with a Challenge Grant of $1 million.

Autism is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder estimated to affect as many as one in every 500 children worldwide. The National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) is dedicated to finding the causes – and a cure – for the condition by funding and accelerating autism biomedical research.

Over $1.2 million raised this weekend

The news is in – and it's great! Walk F.A.R. for NAAR had another banner weekend – raising over $1.2 million the weekend of June 7th and 8th from coast to coast.

Greater Delaware Valley:

Washington crossed the Delaware in a snowstorm and the National Alliance for Autism Research crossed it in the rain. The moral of the story is those who are determined persevere and are successful!

National Alliance for Autism Research Announce New Project to Identify

Renowned Scientists Eric Lander, Ph.D. & David Skuse, M.D., Ph.D. Team Up to Lead the Study

PRINCETON, NJ – The National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) recently invested $480,400 to launch a new study led by renowned scientists Eric Lander, Ph.D. and David Skuse, M.D., Ph.D. that aims to identify a genetic component of a common symptom of autism: the inability to recognize fear as a facial expression.

In order to achieve its goal, the study will focus on Turner Syndrome, which shares a common phenotype with autism: people with autism and Turner Syndrome typically have difficulty identifying fear as a facial expression in other people.
