Spring Walks Raise $1.8 Million and Climbing

More Than 15,000 Walk FAR for NAAR and Raise Funds for Autism Research

NAAR's Spring Walk season comes to a victorious end this weekend, as we prepare for our final three Walk F.A.R. for NAAR events of the spring. The Spring's final events are the Greater Delaware Valley Walk in Pennsauken, NJ; our Iowa Walk in Des Moines and NAAR's inaugural Chicago Walk at Soldier's Field.

To date, NAAR's 2004 Spring events have attracted more than 15,000 walkers and raised more than $1.8 million for research - and these numbers that will increase after this weekend's Walk events!

Shake, Rattle and Roll

Autism Awareness is on the menu at T.G.I. Friday's

For the fourth year in a row, TGI Friday's restaurants across the greater New York and New England areas are serving up something special for NAAR. The restaurant chain has started its annual “Shake, Rattle and Roll” competition between bartenders, with the proceeds going to the Long Island Walk F.A.R. for NAAR. Bartenders compete to see who's the best. They are judged on the quality of the drink and their amazing acrobatics and juggling. The winners compete regionally, and then nationally.

Senator Clinton Speaks at NAAR Luncheon

Million-Dollar Gift Announced
April 23, 2007


Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) was the keynote speaker at NAAR's Luncheon at the Autism Summit Conference on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center.

Senator Clinton was greeted with a standing ovation by the more than 600 people who attended the event and praised NAAR's efforts to accelerate the pace of research.

Rutgers Investigator Earns NIH Grant

Dr. Linda Brzustowicz Leveraged Data from her 2001 NAAR-funded Pilot Study into a $3.7 Million Grant to Focus on Genetics of Autism

Linda Brzustowicz, M.D., a genetics researcher from Rutgers University, recently leveraged data obtained in a NAAR-funded pilot study to earned a $3.7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health focusing on autism.

and Dentistry of NJ reported a significant association between specific modification in the expression of the ENGRAILED2 gene and symptoms of autism spectrum disorder.

Five Communities Raise Nearly $1 Million for NAAR

Call it a cross-country collaboration. Five communities across the United States held their Walk F.A.R. for NAAR events the weekend of June 11th and 12th. Together, they raised nearly $1 million dollars for autism research.
