Deron is featured on the cover of The Resident, a magazine for New Yorkers. Deron opens up to the mazagine about his adopted son DJ who was diagnosed with autism at 18 months.

(April 3, 2014) -- Last night, the NBA on ESPN's game between the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks, featured a video PSA  highlighting Autism Speaks and World Autism Awareness Day. The video also highlighted 3-time all star Brooklyn Nets point guard and Autism Speaks Ambassador Deron Williams, who has a son on the autism spectrum.

After the video played announcers Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy discussed autism awareness. A transcript of their discussion is below....

Deron Williams, three-time NBA All-Star and Brooklyn Nets captain, hosted his first annual Dodge Barrage charity dodgeball tournament on September 19.This event benefitted Williams' Point of Hope Foundation as well as Autism Speaks and New York Collaborates for Autism.

A team of Autism Speaks staffers took part in the dodgeball tournament against some very strong competition and enjoyed taking part for the cause.

Drive. Determination. Single-minded focus. These are qualities you’d expect to see on the golf course. But today at the famed USGA Winged Foot Golf Course in Mamaroneck, N.Y., those words took on extra meaning during the 15th Annual Autism Speaks Celebrity Golf Challenge.

Retired UConn head coach Jim Calhoun told a crowd of more than 220 golfers how he balked at NCAA rules – and wore his Autism Speaks blue puzzle pin everywhere he went. “I wear it or I don’t coach,” said the Autism Speaks ambassador and autism grandpa.

In an effort to bring holiday cheer to families and their children with autism who were affected by Hurricane Sandy, Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams, his wife Amy, his foundation Point of Hope and Autism Speaks will host a special holiday event at Distilled in New York City on December 22, 2012. The Point of Hope Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of children and their families.
