NEW YORK, NY (April 20, 2007) -- Autism Speaks, the largest non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of autism and raising money to fund autism research, today announced its support of a 5K run in Iraq to raise awareness and funds for autism. As part of April's Autism Awareness Month the Air Force men and women of the 438TH Air Expeditionary Group (AEG) Top 5 Organization, currently deployed in the western deserts of the Anbar Province in Iraq, are holding the 2007 Autism Awareness 5K Fun Run on Al Asad Air Base, Iraq.

Office Depot & NAAR Promotes Autism Awareness

Educational Campaign Educates Customers in 900 Stores Throughout North America

In honor of National Autism Awareness month in April, Office Depot, Inc., is teaming up with the National Alliance for Autism Research for a second year to launch an awareness campaign in Office Depot's 900 retail stores across North America.

Office Depot's awareness program educates customers with informational brochures and posters in the stores about autism and the need for increased research. The program runs through the month of April.

New Jersey Governor Corzine Signs Bills on Autism

On September 12, 2007, New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine signed into law a package of seven bills relating to autism spectrum disorders.

“Today, we are enhancing New Jersey's pioneer status in the fight against autism spectrum disorders by bolstering our arsenal of programs, training, education, and research,” said Governor Jon S. Corzine. “This is an opportunity for New Jersey to become a model for other states in researching the nature of autism and its causes as well as in treating those with these disorders.”
