(September 26, 2014) - Attending sporting events can be exciting for families. But for families who have a child on the autism spectrum, it may not be as enjoyable. People with autism can become overwhelmed due to sensory sensitivies, this is especially likely at a crowded sports venue.

(August 9, 2014) - The New York Yankees hosted Autism Awareness Day at Yankee Stadium. For this game, the Yankees offered a special half-price ticket offer to members of the Autism Speaks community.  The day started with a pre-game ceremony which honored long-standing Autism Speaks supporters and big-time Yankees fans, the Mojica family.

(June 5, 2014) - A panel of experts addressed disparities in autism awareness and diagnosis in underprivileged communities at an event on Tuesday at University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Conn. Jamitha Fields, vice president of community affairs for Autism Speaks, gave the keynote speech at the event and participated as one of the panelists.

Nebraska's KNEB radio host Bill Boyer interviewed Vicki Depenbusch, Autism Speaks' Light It Up Blue and Nebraska advocacy chair. She spoke about early detection, the Light It Up Blue campaign, tool kits and how close Nebraska is to passing autism insurance reform. The topic is close to home for host Bill Boyer, he has an 8-year son on the spectrum. Listen to the full interview in the clips below.
