(September 26, 2011) – The Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network (ATN), has received a $12 million federal grant to continue to serve as the Autism Intervention Research Network on Physical Health (AIR-P). TheAIR-P supports clinical research, development of best-practice guidelines, tool kits for families and physicians, and clinician training activities.

NEW YORK, N.Y. (September 18, 2011) – Research supported by the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network (ATN), demonstrating that symptoms of attention deficit and hyperactivity worsen quality of life for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), was presented today at the Society for Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

Many opportunities are available for families to participate in autism research. You can join a clinical trial, enroll in a research study, contribute to our rich genetic database or participate online by adding your family information to a research database. Nearly 90 percent of children with cancer are enrolled in clinical trials--contrasted with only 5 percent of children with autism. Your participation can make a difference in the lives of all who struggle with autism.
