DSM-5 Will Be Released this Weekend

The fifth edition of the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) will be released by the American Psychiatric Association this weekend. The new edition introduces two fundamental changes in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. First it collapses previously distinct autism subtypes – including autistic disorder and Asperger syndrome – into one unifying diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

DSM-5 Draft Criteria Open for Final Public Comment

The American Psychiatric Associate and the members of the DSM-5 Task Force and Work Groups have opened up public comment on the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). For the next six weeks, commenting and feedback to the current draft of the DMS-5 is open to the public.
