7% Disability Hiring Goal Set for Federal Contracts

HOUSTON (August 29, 2013) -- Contractors who bid on federal contracts funded by taxpayer dollars will have to step up their efforts to recruit workers with disabilities, under a new policy announced by Vice President Joe Biden. According to the Associated Press, federal contractors currently employ about 1 in every 5 U.S. workers.

LA Times Reports about iPods and Autism

In an article posted this week, the LA Times reports about how the iPod touch had significantly helped aid workers with autism in the workplace. 

Many workers with autism face challenges finding and maintaining employment. The study quoted in the article states that only 15% of adults with autism have paying jobs, according to author Tony Gentry, an occupational therapy professor.
