PIERRE, SD (February 20, 2014) -- The South Dakota House Health and Human Services Committee today strengthened then unanimously approved HB.1257, the autism insurance reform bill, sending the measure to the House floor. The floor vote is expected early next week.

TOPEKA (February 19, 2014) -- Autism Speaks is urging Kansas lawmakers to reject HB.2704, a bill introduced late last week in the House Insurance Committee and misrepresented as a "compromise" bill by its proponents. Neither the autism community nor Rep. John Rubin, the sponsor of HB.2531, have endorsed this new bill.

SALT LAKE CITY (February 14, 2014) -- The 2014 Utah autism insurance reform bill is headed to the Senate floor following passage today by the Senate Business and Labor Committee on a 6-1 vote. Utah has the highest prevalence of autism in the nation, yet is one of only 16 remaining states yet to bar insurers from refusing to cover basic therapies on the basis of an autism diagnosis.

JACKSON, MS (February 4, 2014) -- A pair of Mississippi legislative committees completed action on the 2014 autism insurance reform bill, clearing the way for a House floor vote. The votes marked the most progress ever for autism insurance reform legislation in Mississippi.

HONOLULU (January 28, 2014) -- A 2014 Hawai'i autism insurance reform bill was voted out of two Senate committees yesterday with amendments sought by Autism Speaks to strengthen its provisions.

ATLANTA (January 16, 2014) --Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has proposed the introduction of autism insurance coverage through the state employee health plan in his new budget proposal. If approved by the Legislature, the coverage would be the first in Georgia for applied behavior analysis (ABA) and other medically necessary autism treatments.
