UPDATED: New ABA Benefit for Federal Employees to be Offered in 2013

NEW YORK (October 26, 2012) -- A revised analysis by Autism Speaks of the new ABA coverage to be offered under the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program for 2013 has identified 67 participating health plans operating in 22 states. The FEHB is the nation's largest single health insurance program, covering eight million federal employees, dependents and retirees. Open season for 2013 medical coverage runs November 12 through December 10.

Roanoke Times: 'A setback in insurance for autism treatment'

ROANOKE (Dec. 7, 2011) -- The Roanoke Times in an editorial published today said Gov. Bob McDonnell has a "moral obligation" to resolve an impasse delaying implementation of the state's new autism insurance reform law. "The most recent setback is particularly cruel because it creates the prospect that the entire debate over the insurance mandate could be reopened, leaving the families' hard-fought gains vulnerable to mischief from insurance lobbyists," the editorial said.

Gov. McDonnell Signs Bill Protecting ABA Coverage Under State's Autism Insurance

RICHMOND (Feb. 7, 2012) -- Governor Bob McDonnell today signed HB-1106 into law, correcting a flaw that had been incorporated in Virginia's 2011 autism insurance reform law.

The bill assures that providers of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) are covered under the law by establishing a state licensing procedure for ABA providers.

Virginia Board of Medicine Issues Emergency BCBA Regulations

RICHMOND (June 25, 2012) -- The Virginia Board of Medicine voted last week on emergency regulations related to the state licensure of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst, (BCaBAs.) Over the coming weeks, the proposed emergency regulations will proceed through executive reviews by the Attorney General's office, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Department of Mangement and Budget and finally the Governor.

Autism Speaks, VAP Respond to New ABA Regulations
