RICHMOND (Feb. 7, 2012) -- Governor Bob McDonnell today signed HB-1106 into law, correcting a flaw that had been incorporated in Virginia's 2011 autism insurance reform law.

The bill assures that providers of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) are covered under the law by establishing a state licensing procedure for ABA providers.

RICHMOND (June 25, 2012) -- The Virginia Board of Medicine voted last week on emergency regulations related to the state licensure of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst, (BCaBAs.) Over the coming weeks, the proposed emergency regulations will proceed through executive reviews by the Attorney General's office, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Department of Mangement and Budget and finally the Governor.

RICHMOND (July 18, 2012) --   Autism Speaks and the Virginia Autism Project (VAP) responded today to the Virginia Board of Medicine’s emergency regulations for certifying therapists who provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and removing the latest roadblock to Virginia families gaining access to the autism treatment in public schools, community programs, and at home.

JEFFERSON CITY (January 17, 2012) -- Gov. Jay Nixon, in his 2012 State-of-the-State Address, called on the Missouri Legislature to take the next step in improving access to care for children with autism by working to increase the number of licensed care providers.

Nixon noted how Missouri in 2010 passed landmark autism insurance reform legislation to ensure that children with autism get the therapy they need.

WASHINGTON, DC (July 26, 2012) -- A federal judge in Washington has handed military families a major victory in their pursuit of insurance coverage for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for their dependents by ruling in a class action lawsuit that the Department of Defense's (DoD)  policy of limiting benefits to active duty members was "arbitrary and capricious."

SEATTLE -- The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) has settled with a group of state employees who sued for coverage of applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to treat autism under the state'’s Uniform Medical Plan.
