(August 9, 2014) - The New York Yankees hosted Autism Awareness Day at Yankee Stadium. For this game, the Yankees offered a special half-price ticket offer to members of the Autism Speaks community.  The day started with a pre-game ceremony which honored long-standing Autism Speaks supporters and big-time Yankees fans, the Mojica family.

The Lion King has become Broadway's first $1 Billion show! To celebrate, the Broadway cast did a surprise performance in the NYC subway!

If you're in the Boston area, Autism Speaks has partnered with Broadway In Boston and Disney Theatrical Productions to provide a unique theatre experience for individuals and families impacted by autism.

(August 8, 2014) - A New Jersey father is calling for training for school bus drivers and bus aides after his son with autism was left alone at the wrong house. Stuart Chaifetz posted a Youtube video detailing what happened and the panic that went through his mind upon hearing his 12-year-old son Akian was found by a stranger.

“You’re not carting packages that can be deposited without a signature on someone’s front porch,” Chaifetz says in the video.

(August 7, 2014) - New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio today signed "Avonte's Law," which requires the city's Department of Education and police to evaluate which school doors should be alarmed to help prevent wandering incidents by students. The law is named for Avonte Oquendo, the Queens teenager with autism who died after wandering from his school last October. The city council passed the bill 49-0 in a vote last month.
