Autism Speaks is thrilled to announce the 2012 Family Services Community Grants Recipients. A total of $350,000 was awarded to 16 organizations to fund programs for individuals with autism in the areas of Education, Recreation and Community Activities, and Young Adult and Adult Services.

The UJA-Federation of New York and the Autism Science Foundation are asking adults with ASD (and their parents or guardians) to complete a survey addressing what is going well in daily life, and what is a challenge. The results of this survey will inform decision making with regard to which programs should be expanded and which may no longer be of value.

Autism Speaks has received such positive feedback about the resources it has developed for families affected by autism, such as the 100 Day Kit. In order to make these resources more accessible to the global autism community, we have developed this page for non-English speaking families. Below you will find resources in a number of languages, followed by a description of how individuals and organizations can help Autism Speaks to adapt and translate its materials. Please continue to visit this page as more and more language resources become available.

In light of the recent Wandering study, we reached out to our community and asked for tips and tools used to prevent wandering. We got some great feedback and wanted to share it with everyone!

Students at Michigan's Linden High School recently voted Danny Leideker, an 18-year-old teenager with autism spectrum disorder, homecoming king. This seems to be part of a growing trend of students embracing those with differences, according to an article in The Huffington Post.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! Throughout October, we will be hosting "Live Chats", posting blog entries, and keeping the community updated with news and resources related to the employment of adults with autism spectrum disorder.
