April 2, 2014 (New York, NY) – Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, announced today that it is joining forces with Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, and other like-minded partners, to develop a new community engagement initiative to help reduce the stigma surrounding children with autism.

WAYNE, NJ (April 1, 2014) – Toys“R”Us® today announced that, as part of its ongoing support of the special needs community and to commemorate Autism Awareness Month, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund has provided a $600,000 grant to Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization.

(March 27, 2014) -- Vanessa Fontaine, the mother of 14-year-old, Avonte Oquendo, had told her son's teacher that Avonte was a 'runner' who might leave the school building. The note letter was never shared with school administrators, according to a report published today. 

This error, along with other oversights, was was described in a 12-page report published by the special commissioner of investigation for the New York City school system.

(March 20, 2014) Los Angeles, Calif -  The 2nd Light Up The Blues concert to benefit Autism Speaks, hosted by Kristen and Stephen Stills, has sold out. The concert, which features musicians Crosby, Stills & Nash, John Mayer, Don Felder, Brandi Carlile, and Chris Stills will take place on April 5th at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

(March 3, 2014) – Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, today announced that The Gordon & Llura Gund Foundation and The Gordon & Llura Gund 93 Foundation have donated a combined $3 million to support Autism Speaks’ Autism Ten Thousand Genomes (Aut10K) program to sequence the world’s largest collection of whole genomes of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their family members.

NEW YORK (February 25, 2014) Autism Speaks President Liz Feld provides an answer to the question "What is the biggest mistake patients make when picking a primary-care doctor?" in a post on the Wall Street Journal's "The Experts" blog.

Feld stresses the importance of finding a primary-care physician who will coordinate and integrate all the treatments for a child with complex medical concerns.
