Autism Speaks Requests New Training and Treatment Network Applications

Autism Speaks is pleased to announce two new Requests for Applications (RFAs) that support our mission to improve the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. Autism Speaks supports global biomedical research into the diagnosis, causes, prevention, and treatment of autism by funding studies along the entire research continuum – from discovery to development to dissemination. These RFAs focus on innovative projects that will build the future of autism research by supporting the early career development of autism scientists, and enhance the quality of medical care for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Dennis Weatherstone Pre-Doctoral Fellowships

2009 Weatherstone Fellows

2009 Weatherstone Fellows

This pre-doctoral program was established in memory of Sir Dennis Weatherstone, the former Chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan, with the intent of encouraging the most promising young scientists to establish autism research as their chosen career path. The fellowship awards will provide highly qualified candidates with exceptional research training opportunities in priority areas related to the study of ASDs. Specifically, Dennis Weatherstone Fellows will work directly with mentors who are leading scientists in the field of autism research to support the growth of a promising cadre of young autism scientists. Successful 2010 applicants will join the inaugural 2009 first class of eight Weatherstone Fellows in benefitting from networking activities. The Dennis Weatherstone Fellowship Program is made possible by a generous grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

Autism Treatment Network

The Autism Treatment Network (ATN) is a collaboration of treatment and research centers dedicated to improving medical care for children and adolescents with ASD.

The RFA solicits letters of intent from hospitals and academic medical centers interested in participating in a multi-site clinical care network. The ATN mission is to provide a state-of-the-art, comprehensive and coordinated medical care model for children with ASD. This RFA is open to both new and existing ATN sites.
