Autism Speaks Launches AutismSpeaksVids YouTube Channel Dedicated to Promoting Autism Awareness Online
Channel Will Feature a Variety of Video Clips from Professional and Amateur Sources

NEW YORK, NY (September 13, 2007) -- Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of autism and funding autism research, announced today that it has joined with YouTube to create AutismSpeaksVids -- www.youtube.com/autismspeaksvids -- a new video channel designed to increase awareness of autism through a variety of traditional and new media.

AutismSpeaksVids features a variety of clips from both professional and amateur sources. The channel will host exclusive expert interviews on a range of autism-related topics, media coverage about autism, footage from fundraising events advocacy efforts across the country, and more. AutismSpeaksVids will draw from the submissions of the online community to bring a broad and varied look at autism and the individuals and families it affects. Visit www.youtube.com/autismspeaksvids for information about how to submit videos for consideration.

“Autism Speaks is committed to finding new and innovative ways to share ideas, information and experiences within the autism community,” said Bob Wright, Autism Speaks co-founder. “By harnessing the tremendous power of YouTube as a destination for information and entertainment, AutismSpeaksVids promises to be an effective tool for achieving this important goal.”

ABOUT AUTISM
Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person's ability to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied by extreme behavioral challenges. Autism spectrum disorders are diagnosed in one in 150 children in the United States, affecting four times as many boys as girls. The diagnosis of autism has increased tenfold in the last decade. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have called autism a national public health crisis whose cause and cure remain unknown.

ABOUT AUTISM SPEAKS
Autism Speaks is dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for autism, and to advocating for the needs of affected families. It was founded in February 2005 by Suzanne and Bob Wright, the grandparents of a child with autism. Bob Wright is Vice Chairman, General Electric, and served as chief executive officer of NBC for more than twenty years. Autism Speaks has merged with both the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) and Cure Autism Now (CAN), bringing together the nation's three leading autism advocacy organizations.
