Teratology Society Meeting Support
University of California, San Diego
The objectives of the 49th Annual Meeting of the Teratology Society is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and research results that reveal the causes, improve the diagnosis and treatment, and prevent the occurrence of abnormal development and birth defects. It is also a goal of the Society to provide education and training on the causes, mechanisms, treatment and prevention of birth defects. The training of the next generation of teratologists is dependent on the interactions between graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with established investigators. Aside from the interactions between a trainee and their mentor, the most important venue for young teratologists to have such interactions is the Teratology Society Annual Meeting. This funding request is to provide funds to support the travel and hotel expenses for invited speakers participating in the Autism: Genes and the Environment Symposium being held as part of the 2009 Teratology Society Annual Meeting. This is the 49th Annual Meeting of the Teratology Society and will be held at the Wyndham Rio Mar in Puerto Rico on June 27 – July 1, 2009. Annual Meeting registration is open to any interested party without regard to membership status, race, ethnicity, political views or disability.
