Teen Girls in Maryland Arrested for Abuse of Boy with Autism

March 13, 2014

Two Maryland teenage girls are in police custody after abusing a teenager with autism and filming it on their cell phones. One, who is 17 years old, is being charged as an adult with false imprisonment, assault and solicitation for child pornography. The other girl, who is 15, is charged as a juvenile.

As a community we must all work together to take a stand against abuse and violence against our loved ones with autism. The victimization of individuals on the spectrum and other disabilities has become far too prevalent. Autism Speaks provides information from experts in the field explaining what abuse is, the signs of abuse, what to do if your loved one has been abused and how we can take steps to reduce risk.
